NLS Salon Special: Israel’s Democratic Future

8th February 2023 @ 8:00 am - 15th February 2023 @ 5:00 pm

Wednesday 15 February, 7pm

Join David Djemal in conversation with  Ori Narov, Director of Legal Department at the Israel Religious Action Centre (IRAC).

Right now, we are witnessing a vociferous public debate in Israel over the judicial reforms proposed by the current government. Thousands upon thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets every week, protesting the controversial legal overhaul, and its effects on the dynamics of power between the legislative and the judiciary.

Ori Narov, director of the legal department for IRAC (Israel Religious Action Centre) will be joining us for a special salon on Wednesday, 15th February, to talk us through the proposed changes and their possible consequences for Israel’s democratic structure as well as its standing in the world. We will also look at the ways people in Israel and abroad are taking action, focusing on the public uproar and IRAC’s activism.

About Ori Narov
Ori joined IRAC’s staff in 2016. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Tel Aviv University and an LL.M (with honors) in human rights as an Emile Zola fellow in the “Takannah” program In the College of Management. He is a member of the HIAS Fellows Program, and has been a member of the Bar Association in Israel since 2010.
